Jackie is a perinatal psychologist with a Master’s in Art Therapy and training in Yoga for trauma and nervous system regulation. She specialises in EMDR intensives for pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting experiences — including for those whose bodies and nervous systems carry trauma after loss.
Jackie personally knows what it’s like to go to therapy each week for insight without nervous system support in the perinatal period. While traditional therapy gave understanding, it didn’t allow the brain and body to complete processing — leaving her stuck in distress, dysregulation, and exhaustion between sessions, all while parenting. She discovered EMDR, but the typical weekly delivery still prolonged this cycle.
From this experience, she intentionally designed her practice to fill the gaps in support she noticed after pregnancy loss. EMDR intensives in the perinatal space allow processing to be completed safely and efficiently, giving clients relief without ongoing dysregulation or extra burden.
To provide the safest and most integrative care, Jackie personally works with Dr Scott Shemer at Epworth Freemasons Hospital and Juno Specialists, creating coordinated care so that clients are fully supported and held throughout the whole perinatal period.
Her approach is trauma-aware, inclusive, and realistic. She prioritises your wellbeing, not just your baby’s, helping clients reclaim calm, presence, and confidence — without shame, pressure, or unrealistic expectations.
Melissah is a registered psychologist with a background in Educational and Developmental Psychology. She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families, giving her a broad understanding of development, wellbeing, and life transitions across the lifespan.
A key part of her work is supporting parents and caregivers through meaningful life changes. The perinatal period — including pregnancy, birth, becoming a parent or caregiver, and adjusting to life with or without a baby — is one of the biggest transitions many people experience. She helps clients navigate the emotional changes that can come with this stage, including anxiety, overwhelm, grief, identity shifts, and adjusting to new roles.
Drawing on her own experience as a parent, Melissah’s approach is inclusive, practical, and trauma-aware. She provides realistic strategies and support for managing the mental load, exhaustion, and isolation that can come with early parenting or caregiving. She creates a warm, collaborative, and validating therapeutic space, helping clients build confidence, self-compassion, and wellbeing during a time that can feel both joyful and challenging.
